Dear Faithful Bukasa Supporters
Thanks to all who attended our ”10-Year Celebration/Thank You” event last Saturday night. We had a great evening celebrating what God has accomplished in and through the partnership of Pastor George’s Ever Increasing Children’s Centerin Uganda, and iheartBukasa Ministries here in Thousand Oaks. (Unfortunately Margret, Pastor George’s wife, was unable to attend since she, at the last minute, was denied a travel visa).
We especially wanted to honor and salute our many faithful EICC supporters. God has used their faithful giving to grow and prosper the school, affecting hundreds of children and their families.
The 90 guests at the event learned about the beginning of both ministries, the progress made throughout the years, and the challenges that are still ahead of us. Pastor George shared his message of God’s faithfulness in expanding the school from 20 students in 2009, to now over 300. Several team members who have been to Bukasa shared touching stories and personal experiences from their visit. Sales were steady at the merchandise table where many items, hand-made by the village women, were offered. Our sponsorship table attracted an additional 14 sponsorships, raising our total number of sponsored children to 53! Thank you sponsorship families!
Sidenote: Several people came to the celebration ready to “give” and expressed their surprise that donations weren’t solicited. Our goal that evening wasn’t to fund-raise, but to simply host an evening of celebration and thanks. However… Ever Increasing Children’s Center does have immediate and on-going needs that we will soon be addressing through a matching-grant campaign. We’ll also provide an opportunity for you to give meaningful gifts of hope this Christmas. You will hear more about these in the very near future.
In the meantime, thank you for your loyal partnership with us in this important work. Keep praying! Thank you for helping Pastor George as he continues educating children…and changing a nation!
