Dear Friends and Bukasa Supporters-
We just received word from Pastor George that the President of Uganda has again shut the country down due to the resurgence of Covid-19. He has given his people 3 days to travel to their homes. They are to remain there, locked down, for 42 days. No work, no school, no church.
Since January, many areas of society were just getting back on their feet with the opening of schools and the slow releasing of covid restrictions on work, worship, education, transportation, etc. So this new lock-down has come as hard news to our friends in Bukasa.
Pastor George reports that this round of Covid is worse than the first wave in 2020. Just in the past few weeks, he knows of pastors and some young people who have contracted and died from the virus. Hospitals are full. Many afflicted are unable to seek treatment.
Food shortages have become a reality already. Our monthly student sponsorship funds for June and July will be used to provide food and sanitation supplies for his school and church families. We will re-assess after the 42 day lock-down to determine needs at that time.
Thank you for standing with Pastor George and his school community during this time. We know that God is at work even in the midst of another lock-down. As you pray for God’s hand of protection and provision for our friends in Bukasa, please consider an additional financial gift to help them through the days ahead.
Thanks in advance for your continued support and prayers.
Bob and the iheartBukasa Team.
